LG G3 Prime With Snapdragon 805 – How Will Samsung Beat It?

LG’s new upcoming flagship, the LG G3, comes with the tag line “Simple is the new smart”. We don’t know what to think about that being the smartphone’s motto, but the handset is expected to come with some killer features that will set up new standards for other devices and it will be a fierce competition to top smartphones on the market. There have been some rumors about a LG G3 Prime handset coming to South Korea.

LG didn’t make any official statements about the rumor, but according to Phone Arena, the device is set to be released this July. The LG G3 Prime is expected come with LTE-A support, which would come as a worthy opponent for the Samsung Galaxy S5 LTE-A. This handset is only available in Asia and it is superior to the original, the Samsung Galaxy S5, not only with its LTE-A support, but also quad HD resolution and better Snapdragon 805 (Qualcomm) processor. The Samsung Galaxy S5 comes with Full HD screen resolution and with an inferior chipset: the Snapdragon 801, also from Qualcomm. In other aspects, the devices are the same.

We can see that the LG G3 has a 5.5 inches display that can render a Quad HD screen resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels. The upgraded G3 Prime version could only surpass its predecessor with LTE-A support and maybe a Snapdragon 805 processor.

LG G3 Prime is also been called LG G3 Cat. 6 in South Korea, which is why we knew it was a LTE-A supporting device. Cat. 6 stands for Category 6 (network cable terminology) which refers to a cable that is specially standardized for Gigabit Ethernet as well as other network layers.

What this basically means is that when saying that LG G3 is a Cat. 6 handset, we understand that the device has 300 Mbps downloading speed range. And, as cleared out by Phone Arena, 300Mbps is the desired speed for LTE-A support in South Korea.

The LG G3 Prime will not support a Snapdragon 801 (Qualcomm) chipset as we saw in many devices like the original, LG G3, as well as HTC One M8, Samsung Galaxy S5 and Sony Xperia Z2. We will probably see the LG G3 Cat. 6 with a Snapdragon 805 chipset.
