OnePlus One Can Be Bought Without An Invite

One of the best smartphone devices of 2014 comes from a less known known in the smartphone market, namely OnePlus. Their device, the OnePlus One, has managed to give the flagship devices which came out from market leaders a round for their money. One setback regarding the handset, however, was the fact that, in order to buy one, you needed a special invite. That may have been a bad move on One Plus’s part, as now the device is being made available for general pre-order/purchase, without requiring an invitation.

According to Phone Arena, it was on an AMA (Ask Me Anything) session on Reddit where the news about the device being released to the general audience first surfaced, from none other than OnePlus themselves. The “invitation only” purchase mode previously implemented by OnePlus will be supposedly changed with the standard way of buying a smartphone somewhere during October.

If the device’s re-release would follow the reported schedule and aims successfully for an October release, it will have some stiff competition on its hands. During the months of September and October, the market will be suddenly flooded by high-end devices coming from the top selling, market leading smartphone manufacturers of the last years, such as Google, Apple, Sony and Samsung.

These high-end OnePlus One competitors will come one after the other, making things harder for the device. It will be interesting to see if the OnePlus One will pack enough of a punch to stand a fighting chance against these technological beasts. It managed to pull it off once, but that was back in Q2. Although a little outdated, Q2 also features a lot of great high-end flagship phones from leading names that couldn’t take down the OnePlus One. If we set aside the impressive Z3 and Z3 Compact devices from Sony for just a second, the OnePLus would still have to get through the Samsung Galaxy Note 4, which is very long anticipated handset, the Nexus 6 or Nexus X, which promises impressive settings , the talked-about Galaxy Alpha, and last but not least, the most speculated-about device, probably, of 2014, the iPhone 6 from Apple. The Moto X+1 and the Moto G2 also made the cut.

One of the key features for OnePlus’s One device is the Voice Wake-Up technology, based on the wakeup technology that can also be found in the V within Qualcomm chipsets (not all of them, of course).

In terms of specifications, the device will feature a pretty large 5.5 inch display, operating under the IPCS LCD technology, and a maximum resolution of 1080 x 1920. The ppi for the device is 401, therefore it also has a good ppi. The processor behind the workload is a 2.5 GHz quad core unit, branded Qualcomm Snapdragon 801. The included 3 GB of RAM will complete the list of specifications for the device, alongside the 5 MP front-facing camera and the 13 MP primary camera. All these, alongside support for NFC, should take up a lot a battery, but you can always plug your device in the charge and be good as new.
