Samsung Galaxy S5 4G+ Released Today At A Price of Only $550 With Killer Specs

Samsung released numerous devices during 2014, one of them being their flagship handset, the Galaxy S5. It seems, however, that the Korean tech giant is planning on releasing a new variant of the Galaxy 5, called the Samsung Galaxy S5 4G +. Let’s dig deeper and see what this new phone has in store for us.

Phone Arena reports that the new Galaxy S5 variant will be capable of reaching speeds as high as 300 Mbps on LTE-A. In terms of specifications, the new device is set to feature the same list as the original S5. Internally, the 4G+ version of Samsung’s flagship will come bearing a superior processor, namely the Qualcomm Snapdragon 805, instead of the Snapdragon 801 unit found in the original model. As for the device’s launch, it is expected to make its debut in the market in Singapore, and the first carrier to offer the new S5 variant will be Singapore’s SingTel. The release of this model is set for 23 August.

As of recently, a Galaxy S5 variant has been made available on Asian markets, but it is not be confused with this one. The S5 model recently release is the Samsung Galaxy S5 LTE-A, not the Galaxy S4 4G+. The LTE-A version supposedly features an impressive 5.1 inch Quad HD display, operating under the Super AMOLED technology, with a 2560 x 1440 resolution and a 576 ppi pixel density, which is stunning. The 4G+ variant features only Full HD for its display, just like the original Galaxy S5.

The Galaxy S5 4G+ will feature a completely different display aside from the size, as it is set to pack a 5.1 inch screen, operating at a maximum resolution of 1920 x 1080, with a lower pixel density than the LTE-A version, of 432 ppi. The pixel density is lower than the one offered by the LTE-A variant, but it is still pretty high. On the other hand, the 4G+ S5 will have the advantage in terms of processing power, as the processing unit it features, the Snapdragon 805, is currently used just by one other device, namely LG’s flagship handset, the LG G3 Prime, mostly found in Korean markets, which also goes by the name LG G3 Cat. 6. That is the S5 4G+ ‘s only competition in terms of CPU until the later release of some high-end anticipated smartphones like the Nexus 6 or the Samsung Galaxy Note 4, which also promise to deliver the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 805, which at the moment is topped only by NVIDIA’s Tegra K1 processor.

Other than the specified differences, the Galaxy S5 and the Galaxy S5 4G+ are quite similar in terms of specifications, such as the 2 GB of RAM, 16/32 GB memory options, 16 MP camera  or the 2800 mAh battery. The device will feature Android KitKat and will be capable of NFC functionality.

For the moment, we don’t know much about the phone’s availability outside of Singapore, or when more details on the matter will emerge, but we do know that the device will be retailed in Singapore as its first location, for a price equivalent to around $550.
