Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini Brings Heart Rate and Top Fingerprint Sensors
The “Mini” version of the Samsung Galaxy S5 was just confirmed to be released in mid-July. The handset holds most of the features we saw in the Galaxy S5 (for example: fingerprint scanner, ultra power saving mode, heart rate monitor and even the water proof capabilities certified by IP67) but it is a cheaper alternative from the original.
While those features are available on the S5 Mini, as well as some others, the small version of the Galaxy S5 does come with some changes regarding processor, camera, battery and display.
The Samsung Galaxy S5 is equipped with a 5.1 inches display that can render a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels and that presents a pixel ratio of 432 pixels-per-inch. The Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini is tooled with a smaller display measuring 4.5 inches. The device does present a lower screen resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels, and the pixel density is inferior to the original (326 pixels-per-inch).
The processor that powers the Galaxy S5 is a quad core working at 2.5 GHz. The Galaxy S5 Mini is also powered by a quad core, but this device is clocked at 1.4 GHz. As for RAM, the S5 supports 2GB of RAM, while the Mini version has 1.5GB.
Regarding the internal memory, the Galaxy S5 did show off 32GB of internal storage space with the option of expanding it up to 128GB via microSD card. The Galaxy S5 Mini is built with 16GB of internal memory capacity which can also be expanded via microSD card, but only up to 64GB in this case.
There have been some changes in the battery department as well, seeing how the Galaxy S5 houses a 2800 mAh battery unit and the Galaxy S5 Mini houses a 2100 mAh one.
When talking about camera specs, we can see that the modified version comes with an 8MP main camera, while the primary camera on the original has 16MP.
As for exterior outlook, the Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini keeps the same perforated back case look that the Samsung Galaxy S5 has. Also, the handset will be available in four color schemes: gold, blue, black and white.
If you’re interested in buying the cheaper version of the Galaxy S5 flagship, you might be curious to know when the release date is. The device will be first available in Russia, this in early July, and then it will expect another release date for worldwide Samsung fans.
