Windows XP Stream 14 Notebook Features and Price – Does It Beat Chromebook 14?

Recent reports show that electronics manufacturer HP and Windows developer Microsoft, are preparing to collaborate on a budget-friendly laptop that will run the latter’s Windows operating system.

According to MobileGeeks, the new device that is coming our way with an acceptable price tag bears the codename HP Stream 14, probably related to the computer’s display size, which is 14 inches. The screen’s resolution is 1366 x 768. Apparently, the device will weigh around 1.78 kg, and regarding its anticipated friendly price tag, it seems like it’s going to be as friendly as $199. At least that’s what GSM Arena leads us to believe.

Getting a little bit into specifications, the device will feature an AMD Mullins A4 chip, alongside an integrated Radeon R3. Also, 2 GB of RAM are included, which isn’t bad for a budget-friendly device. The internal configuration of the chip suggests the existence of a heat sink. It is worth noting that the computer doesn’t have any internal fans that could have helped with the heat. The laptop will be placed under the “notebook” category.

Similar to the HP Chromebook bundle were purchasing the device gave you access to 100 GB of free storage space on Google Drive, Microsoft now offers 100 GB of free OneDrive cloud storage space, available for two years, once you purchase the HP Notebook Stream 14. As far as internal memory goes, the upcoming HP device will come in 32 and 64 GB variants with the possibility of expanding through a microSD card. The battery added to the mix is 32 Wh mix.

The Stream 14’s similarities with the Chromebook 14 don’t stop at cloud storage bundle offers, but also reach as far as exterior design. The two devices spot a few similar elements in appearance, and also the same screen size, 14 inches. The Chromebook was released back in 2013.

In the connectivity department we have two USB v2 ports and one USB v3 port for the HP Stream, along other standard connectivity features, but also a HDMI port. The audio system is also worth noting, as this laptop provides  four speakers, and also audio enhancement by Beats Audio. No official word or statement has been received from Microsoft regarding this new device, but still, despite that, the product is expected to be launched pretty soon, as many users predict.
