Xperia Z3 Devices Benefit From Sony’s PS4 Controller
Big news for the PS4 and Sony enthusiasts out there, as the company recently announced that the upcoming devices branded Sony Xperia Z3, namely the Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z3 Compact smartphones as well as the Xperia Z3 tablet, will benefit from Sony’s Remote Play feature. This will allow users to take their smartphone or tablet device and use it as a monitor.
The feature takes a little bit of its essence from the PS Vita console also offered by Sony. The PS4 Vita comes with a combination of controller and display, basically the result Sony is trying to offer through the Remote Play option. As it obviously doesn’t have a build-in controller like the PS Vita, the Xperia Z3 lineup will need to acquire the help of the DualShock4 gaming controller which is offered by Son for the PS4.
It hasn’t yet been clear if the Xperia Z3 smartphones and tablet will benefit from the option of connecting to high speed internet connection outside the house, like the PS Vita is able to achieve due to its combination of controller and monitor, but it is most likely that this will not be supported on the smart devices, as they need to connect to a controller as stated above, and also connect to a PS4 console. At the moment, the press releases only make reference to playing at home, using the feature.
After you’ve paired your Xperia Z3 device with the DualShock 4 controller, you can simply prompt the monitor device against a wall or something similar, or even use a kickstand, but if you want extra points for style, you could get the recommended Game Control Mount, which is basically a support that accommodates both the controller and the smart device.
With the Xperia Z3 devices awaiting their release date to drop somewhere around September, and the Remote Play feature not being supported until the likes of November, it becomes interesting to see when the Game Control Mount will actually come out. That’s also near the release date of the upcoming 2.0 update for Sony’s PS4.
The Xperia Z3 line of smart devices, according to Sony, is the only one that currently features support for the Remote Play option found in the PS4 starting with the 2.0 update. It is currently unknown if there will be any other models whatsoever in line to receive update for the feature, but for the moment, it’s something only the Z3 line offers.
